
Rain/Rose City Fix is a photography project started by Photographer Brenton
Salo and Designer Aaron Edge in the fall of 2007. The long time friends
have worked together on various music and art projects for a decade and
were ready to start project centered around cycling. They decided to put
together a book of photographs featuring fixed gear cyclists and their
bikes. On a rainy day in January of 2008 they and over 65 Seattle cyclists
along with their bikes crammed into a small studio on Capitol Hill for
photoshoot. A few months later, after many hours of editing and designing
they self-published Rain City Fix. Brenton and Aaron both felt
that Rain City Fix was just the beginning and they soon decided to begin production on a second book featuring cyclists and bikes in
Brenton’s hometown of Portland, Oregon. Brenton spent over a year year
photographing fixed gear riders in Portland, their bikes, and the city.
The photos have been compiled into a book called Rose City Fix.
Rose City Fix was released on August 15, 2009. To celebrate the release Rose City Fix teamed up with
Go Means Go and Pedal Consumption to throw a bike event and book release party. Hundreds of cyclist came out to compete and watch the Alley-Cat Race and Trick Competition. Everyone rider who participated in the even won prizes from sponsors like Dodici, Aerospoke, Colossi, H Plus Son, Velocity, and many other companies from the US, Europe and Japan.
